On April 23-24, the 2023 Gaogong Sodium Battery Industry Summit was held in Suzhou. Dr. Zhang shared his insights and experiences on industry issues that are currently drawing significant attention, while jointly exploring with the attendees both the opportunities and challenges ahead in the industrial development of sodium-ion batteries.
The 2023 Gaogong Sodium Battery Industry Summit was held under the theme "Sodium Batteries Usher in a New Dawn—The Next Generation Holds Great Promise." The event featured three dedicated sessions, over 25 discussion topics, and two panel-style roundtable dialogues, covering diverse applications such as energy storage and lightweight vehicles. It encompassed the entire sodium battery industry chain, from key supply-chain components like sodium battery cathodes and anodes to downstream markets including power and energy-storage applications. The summit drew more than 200 industry leaders from across the value chain, along with participation from over 500 upstream and downstream companies. During the event, relevant industry data were unveiled: according to forecasts by the Gaogong Industry Research Institute (GGII), by 2025, two-wheeled electric vehicles, low-speed electric vehicles, and energy-storage systems will emerge as the initial growth segments for sodium batteries, collectively representing a market potential of approximately 30 GWh and a total value of around RMB 20 billion.
